I purchased a small Bluetooth speaker and set it out back by the big tree and played a starling distress call from my phone through YouTube and they came to it! I was able to take 3 in about 30 minutes! Pretty cool...

Glad to hear that worked for you. I've tried many times with squirrel and chipmunk calls without success. A buddy gave me a squeaker from a dog toy and that really gets the squirrels attention.

What I do to attract Starlings is hang a suet feeder 25 yards out from my indoor shooting position.
This gets a steady stream of Starlings that I knock off one a a time.
It's amazing to me that as crafty as these ugly critters can be, they do not catch on to the routine annihilation.
Also, 25 yards is close enough that one can easily identify other birds that are not meant to be shot ( Woodpeckers, cardinals, etc) before even raising the rifle.

Ed, I have those suet cakes everywhere but the starlings hardly ever use them but other good birds do! I've never had much luck with starlings in this area but there are plenty, they seem to bypass this big cottonwood tree as there is several other's they prefer better or they are on to me, entill I tried the speaker trick we'll see how long it lasts. Not all that fly by come into the tree but I'm happy with the results!!!

For squirrels in my area (off topic, I apologise)... I use the angry squirrel sounds more often than the distress. Territorial dispute seems to get their attention better than hearing a buddy get eaten by a cat.
You don't have to run at full volume. At about 70% volume, I have had squirrels running to me from 100+ yards away.

i got a little JBLspeaker ill try to bring in somedifferent birds as I see them in the field line behind my house crows are out there and would love to zap one of those as I see a few when the weathers good. also got lots of sparrows that come to the feeders and they are a blast to shoot. the 25 cal just blows them apart and the sound is very satisfying.

I wish I had you problem of no starlings.
I shoot them not only because they jam jet engines, but closer to home, because they keep finding ways to make nests in my house.
They can also (have also) severely destroy our back yard orchard yield.
Therefore I lure them away from both using the suet cakes
I'll take no starlings any day of the week and find something recreational to shoot at
