I especially liked the 84 yard bird. The whole time i was saying “he's gonna hit that vegetation”. And then you cut it off clean lol.
Then the next shot surprised me. You didnt hold off for wind but it went out and curled back in perfect. Did you dial the wind or just get lucky with a bad pellet? Or a complicated wind that cancelled?
Anyway, I enjoyed it and subscribed. Keep em comin.
@mike. Yes its death grip was strong. First time I seen it swinging like that.
@pcparmy. You are correct that I didn’t hold for wind on the follow up shot but clearly there was some wind turbulence with the pellet bending and found its mark. I believe I held for wind with the first shot and missed, so I adjusted quickly and got lucky lol.
Watching them South Africans shooting long distances with slugs looks so easy but it is far from the truth. Anything beyond 50 yards in the wind with pellets is very challenging, at least for me. But my Crown is so dialled in now with the power and the AA16gr pellets that I am reluctant to switch to slug barrel in the future.
Me experience echos bobs. Mine shoots the pellets as well if not better with the slug liner.
And slugs will make a huge wind difference. Tested ad nauseam with me shooting slugs and norm shooting pellets, pellets were literally double the wind call. I still shoot pellets when i feel like having fun or holding more wind. But i can tell you i shoot at 150 as well with slugs as well as i shoot 100-110 with pellets.
Dont be reluctant to change if you want to shoot further.
Oh crap i ran away.......not looking to pirate/derail your thread.
@bob. That’s a great advice. I wasn’t sure if pellets perform well in a slug liner. I will definitely try to experiment once the 500mm slug liner is available for my Crown. I guess the FX Impact X or gen2 will have to be on next year’s order. Hopefully the 500mm slug liner will do well at longer ranges. I guess the 23 gr is my max weight to try with the 500mm barrel with the limited speed I can get.
@pcparmy. Thanks. I am looking forward to reach further with my shots in the near future.
@Bill. Thanks. It is quite challenging to compose, edit good footages that will keep audiences wanting for more lol. I do enjoy shooting (AG and video) and sharing my experience of my tools and pesting activities with fellow enthusiasts. Hopefully the content is not too repeating with the same stuff over and over. I was a bit hesitant to upload another “starlings tagging series”. I need to find something else to shoot and post so I don’t bore you guys, lol.
Alex just tweak it a bit. Starlings can still be great entertainment if they are mixed in with scenery, misses, and any nature in the the area. Bob and matt are masters at that. Im trying to learn. But the game doesnt have to change, just the presentation for it to be totally different
