Squirrels need to go says my Wife

Squirrels are a game animal here in massachusetts, starts in September and goes through the cold months. I believe this is due to them being a host for bot flies. Once the temp drops and they are no longer carrying oversized maggot shaped bot fly larvae hunters are more likely to eat them, result in less killed and discarded animals. I don't think squirrel population numbers have anything to do with it here.View attachment 467882

Typically, hunting season dates are established around the animals breeding cycle. So their young are already weaned before the mothers might be killed. There are other things that contribute, but this is the primary theme. I’ve never known bugs to be a factor.

Most states consider squirrels game animals and taking them is covered under wildlife management hunting laws. Just saying.
Most places allow for pest control through state and or local law.
Florida law says any rodent destroying a house or going under buildings is a pest.

My county requires any discarded animal in the trash be double bagged in plastic.

If you have red squirrels you have a problem, they will destroy anything and everything on your property just to mess with you . Every one of those critters I take-out justifies every penny I have spent on my back yard defense arsenal. In fact I am saving money every time I make an airgun related purchase.
I took out two today, and one every day the last 7 or 8 days…there’s apparently an endless supply…. They chewed holes in my insulated shed last year and tore a ton of stuff up…so now it’s personal-a person will never get them all, but you can keep em knocked back a bit.
