Yes, you heard right! 

The rules in a “nut” shell:
*Rimfire and AIR only (sorry, scattergun hacks)
*2 man teams and 10 squirrel limit (per MI law)
*Based on total weight

Cash payout and proceeds go toward youth bass fishing programs. Here’s what I’ve posted to Instagram @airgunner.usa

I know.. Whaaat?! I love it. I also love the fact that it benefits youth angling (my son is a high school tournament bass angler) and love that shotguns aren’t allowed.

I’ll resist the rimfire temptation and enter it with my lowly pellet gun, haha. My teammate is a well known hunter/Outdoorsman and I’m trying to get him to do the same (by loaning him my Cricket .25).. If he goes for it, the RAW .30 LRT will see first blood.. Just have to learn how to shoot it from 25-50 yards, hahaha. Wish me luck.

Cmon down. As far as I know, this is the inaugural event. Would love to see it be a success. You can hunt your usual spot, you just have to be in Waterford for the weigh in at 3:30. Plus you can check “Squirrel Derby” off of your bucket list, hahaha

"Quad82"We have had them around here the last few years. Here it was a one man 5 limit game. Any weapon. It was also on an honor system. You didn’t bring in $#!+ rats (city squirrels).

Yea that’s what I’ll be up against..guys shooting suburban feeder fatties! I’ve got a couple of spots that usually produce, but they’re wild squirrels getting by on what nature provides. 

Just need to think of a name for my team now.. Feel free to chime in, anyone!
