One thing about eating squirrel. If you figure all the energy expended from hunting, skinning, vacuum packing, then preparing. You are negative on calories. That's why I threw some gravy & biscuits in there, I would fall away. LOL

You are so very right on all accounts. I love to hunt and eat squirrels too. So much goes into it as you said.....I make sure to really enjoy them when it's feast time...LOL. I like gravy with mine too.

Odd to me that squirrel is seen as anything OTHER than ..well.. food. When I first happened upon the airgun forums way back when I was amazed to see squirrel referred to as pests. I've lived my whole life (aside for time in the Army) in the country and they never were considered a pest here, they were just small game to be shot and eaten.
It's strange to me to see folks shoot them just to rid their property of them and NOT clean them and eat them.

My grandfather raised me in NW Louisiana. I cut my hunting teeth with squirrel hunting. A mess of young fried squirrel is really good. I also enjoy a good squirrel mulligan stew. Oh man, I’ve got to hit the woods

You can only eat so many squirrels! Between the coons and squirrels, along with the deer, they really hurt our corn and soybean fields. They are pest Under some circumstances and need to kept under control. Besides, if you don’t keep them thinned out, they get diseased and it takes years for them to come back strong.
