Squirrel feeder

One of my permissions is currently over run with Squirrel at the moment but there are several nut trees that they hide in, so I decided to build a feeder to try to concentrate them into a single place. I made rough feeder and filled it with a mix of Wheat and Maize then left it for a few days ... 
I went back this afternoon just to check on any activity

the one above I spooked as I raised the rifle, It ran up the tree the feeder is on and sat still in the branches, I was able to see under its chin so put a shot into its head, it fell out the tree but I felt it needed another shot as it was still moving, you can see the 2nd pellet entry on the head

I left it alone after shooting a few. Will leave it for a week or so topping up the feed as needed and try to give them some confidence while feeding

I thought about building one for my back yard, but they seem to like the bird feeder well enough. 

I also realized I don't really want any more squirrels anyhow; I want rabbits! They're more tender, meaty, and easier to kill and skin. So I'm going to plant vegetables instead. My ex-girlfriends' pet rabbit just LOVED broccoli! My daughter likes it too.

Yes! They need special prep. It to be tough. Lots of marinating is the only thing that worked for me. Even the Crock Pot treatment failed to make them tender.

They have just about zero fat marbled in the meat. When they get fat for the winter, it's OUTSIDE the meat. Let's face it, they're just cuter versions of rats.

Pressure cooker's the only thing I haven't tried yet. I'll try it next time.

We just finished off a crock pot full of 3 squirrels with cream of mushroom soup over rice. It was OK, but I didn't have enough fluid. Squirrels don't miraculously fill up a crock pot with fluid, like a chuck roast does.
