Actually, I use do use a high tech alert its one of those driveway motion sensors have it pointed at the little feeder out front $14 from harbor freight

My mobile high-tech squirrel alarm has audio, optical, and olfactory sensors; she monitors and patrols the whole yard ...our schnauzer's name is Abbie and she takes her bird feeder protection duties seriously!

Awesome, I love it. Sorta like a squirrel dog, only it flies. , Well if it could.
I used to have a cat that went hunting with me. It would see or hear game before me & would perk up & I would look in that direction, sometime it would be a few minutes before I seen or hear it. If I was on a stand, that cat would sit on my lap for hours. If I was walking it would just follow along.
Oh, but that cat could not talk. LOL
