Springers and Slugs

Buddy has a Hatsan 125 in .25 caliber, we tried the H&N Grizzlies in it. Those seem slug like enough to be in this conversation, by pure coincidence, we discovered that aiming at a 3” gong, he hit the 2” gong about 8” right and 6 inches below. We were shooting at 42 yards and he was consistently smacking the 2” gong, but it was outside the adjustment range of the scope. Haven’t tried slugs in anything else yet.

Hey U,

Last year, when I began my slug quest for lower power guns, I gave out between 7000-8000 .1775 slugs throughout the year to everyone that I came across. I found, something rather unusual. Actually, several things.

One of the first things that I noticed from all of the input I received, was any of the 3 nose shapes that I had, regardless of weight, were all horrible with a hollow base. Shoot the same weight pellet in a flat base, totally different animal.

One of the more odd and baffling things that I have discovered, again, from the input of shooters I gave them to, was this......

For some reason, they seemed to work out rather well in Springers. Usually above the 14 ft lb. power level. I've had several shooters, including one from my home club, comment that their TX 200 loves them. Go figure, because that's one result I didn't see coming.

Just keep in mind, all guns are different, so what works in other guns well, might not necessarily work in yours, it's a trial and error crapshoot.
