Springer Scope FWB 124 Budget $750.00

I'm investigating a new scope for my TX200 and sent the following email to Vortex:

I am considering the purchase of your 6-24 FFP Diamondback scope for use on an Air Arms TX200 spring powered air rifle to shoot hunter field target competitions. This rifle shoots .177 pellets at about 930 fps / 15 ft-lb. Is there any reason this scope is not suited to the intended rifle and/or proposed use?

I got this reply back:

Thank you for your email.

All of our riflescopes are rated for air rifles. The Diamondback is a popular scope for these rifles.

Take a look at our Pro Series rings for this optic.

Any questions please let me know.

Thank you for choosing Vortex,

How are you Roger, I remember you from the old yellow, been awhile. Are you back to thinning the ground squirrel population.

This is not your first rodeo, so I wont be making any suggestions other than telling you what I like. The scope I have used and like (just not on that springer) that may fit your purpose is the Leupold Mark AR MOD 1 4-12x40mm P5 Dial Riflescope w/ Adj Objective, Matte Black, Mil Dot Reticle. It's a front objective AO indicating a minimum of 25 yrd parallax but in reality it will parallax down to 15 yards on 12 power, even closer on minimum power.

Reticle has a nice cross hair with 4 lower mill dots followed by thick cross hair allowing for 6 aim points, plenty for the FWB124. Personally wouldn't worry about placing this scope on a somewhat mild springer as the 124 as they range between 10.5 to 12 ftp's unless you have a hot tunned one then you may be looking at 13 +-ftps, still shouldn't be an issue. Scope has a life time warranty I do believe. If concerned give company a call in regards to mounting on springer.

This scope would be a great match for the 124 as it's only 12.4" long and weighs in at 14.9 oz, what's not to like. Retails for approx $499.00 however I paid around 359.00 on sale if memory serves me right. Not positive but do think it can be had in an illuminated reticle which has its benefits when hunting in the shadows, but don't hold me to this one cause it's been awhile and this old memory is not what it used to be.

For a cheaper model might check into the Leuplod fx freedom models and it too comes in the 4-12x40 but without the P5 scope turret which is useless in your application anyway but don't know how the glass compares between the two models.

A scope that was paired with your rifle of yesteryears would be the Blue Ribbon 66R or even better yet the 66RL. It too will balance out the 124 very well but is only a 2-7x32 but does exhibit good glass, great glass for it's time and Springer rated.

Hope I was of some help!

Cheers
