Other Spring Torque Causing Problems

????... Outside the spring binding or hung up somehow in the piston or guide . Cant say if you did not size the spring and something's up on that .. though it's a clone there maybe a difference in things to prevent infringement issues.
Like diana spring may be this wire or that many coils where the china maybe a whole different .

Yell ya who to ask of you dont get many replies here is flying dragon /mike . He be da man on that gun id assume.

Spring torque isn't real on airguns. It's an old wives tale. Spring ends rotate very little usually less than an 1/8 rotation. Even then the force of that little rotation is applied in opposite directions against the same compression tube. Thus mitigating torque.

That said a gun may shoot smoother if you facilitate the little rotation there is. People do this a couple of ways. One is to polish the spring ends. Another way it's to add a smooth washer atop the spring under the piston. It acts as a bearing Similarly people make tophats that fit atop the spring that act as a bearing with the added benefit of centering the spring in the piston. Most tune kits utilize tophats with longer close fitting lower guides. These are usually made from delrin. A hard easily machined plastic.

Fwiw I don't doubt what you're experiencing is real. What you're experiencing isn't spring torque as much as increased recoil jump. The gun moving during the cycle is increased jumpiness being harder to control when shot. Is it possible the gun is oversprung?

so as the builder or rebuilder you have some things to look at when you have the old spring and new spring on the table
overall length
number of coils
wire diameter
and OD
and Mycapt65 is dead nuts right
it seems you might need to start over
we as reader have no real idea how the seal fit or how the spring matched up what lubes you used
and guessing become the norm
old chrono numbers vs new numbers and if none you are guessing if the power changed
you see a trend here too much guessing
