And that is spares just for one gun, right Jon?

I would need to label each one, myself, so I don't forget what each one goes to.

I keep my "spare parts" in ziplock bags, with the bags marked with a sharpie. If I don't, I will pick it up in a month or two and wonder "what's this for????"

I certainly don't go through springs as fast as you do.

Keep shootin', bro

Brother Mark, I have a similar system, just made a spread as the opportunity to capture spring art arose. 🤓

That looks like a JM hornet set in the TP pic?

For the blue .20 cal..?

James from Michigan

James, that spring is a very unique spring: The coil helix is reversed, opposite of say factory AA, HW and Walther (LGU) springs. Specs: 13.6 mm ID, 20 mm OD, 3.1 mm thickness, average 4.8 mm spacing between coils, 28 active coils. Has the same lighter color as V-Mach springs.

Only one way to find out, and I’m up to the challenge (just may take a while). I’d compare with a similar spec spring in the same TX200, installed in as identical a manner as possible (i.e. top hat fit, lube, preload, etc etc). Shots taken on video paying close attention to firing feedback. My educated guess: both would recoil nearly the same, and a similar sized hole would appear downrange😆😉

Now to test with a Mk3 or MK1/2 piston, hmmm...🤓

Man, I just realized you were referring to the TP (toilet paper) pic. That spring is on a tight fitting OEM guide and is now inside my beech TX200 MK3. I thought you meant the "TOP" pic- spring in the middle pointing down. Funny stuff. TP is Toilet Paper, duh! LOL

But yes, the high power Hornet kit is intended for my 97k .20💥🙌

Good site. Looks like they got a good stock of rifles too. Apparently they even have a laminate stock hw97. Question here: Once you find an accurate pellet do you tune spring preload to hone accuracy? I’ve never done it, but about to... mostly just curious about your projects.

I've made a couple purchases, easy peasy (PayPal!) and UPS delivers in about 5 business days.

To answer your question: It all depends on the specific rifle but in general I try to reduce piston bounce as much as possible, and the SPRING (you mentioned spring preload) is only ONE part of that multi-faceted problem. The right sealing pellet is another (hardness/softness matters, as does its tightness in the breech: for example shoot a Crosman Premier Light 7.9 gn pellet followed by a JSB 7.9, both with a negative hold -rear weight bias-notice how much reticle displacement during follow through- this will be further exagerrated with a fwd bias hold), as well as piston seal material/design, among others...

The objective is to increase efficiency with that perfect (I know...) cushion of air behind the pellet that leaves the piston at the end of its travel, and in doing so reducing the forward lunge of the piston.

A "lungy" rifle can still be VERY accurate; take the LGU for example, but if the above can be addressed then it becomes easier and more enjoyable to print those tiny bughole groups that keep us coming back for more.

As far as "honing" for accuracy, MAN that is another can o' worms!

Good luck with your project, let me know how it goes😉

Thank you for that information! With my limited research at the moment I reached a loss for ideas to soften recoil or bounce or hone lol. At this point every bit of information helps unlock new thinking or ideas. It would make sense that “recoil” would be slightly more moving under a harder pellet using same hold but I guess I’ll have to test this to know for sure. I don’t currently have the jsb 7.9s but will now... Seems like one could benefit from some nice camera equipment as well.

Inside an Air Arms Pro Elite, snapped a couple pics for y'all😉

The mainspring is in great shape. OEM 30mm piston seal is sealing exceptionally well as rifle is doing 810-815 fps with Crosman Premier domes 14.3 grain pellets with zero smoke/combustion/detonation whatsover. Piston seal is still pliable, not hard and brittle at all and has zero nicks/scrapes that would compromise it's function. Breech seal looks lovely. 😊

The plan now is to have some custom guides made for an ideal sliding friction fit and maybe a couple steel preload washers of varying thickness for fine tuning.

I just finished polishing the spring ends by hand. Will update once the guides are ready.

PRO ELITE BABY!!
