Sporter Stock For A FWB 300

I sent this thread to a friend, who passed along this shot. It's a 300S Junior (Mini) action without sights - a hair over 5 1/8 pounds.

Thanks MDriskill,

The reason I asked about the "L" Match production is the fact that from Fall 1979-83; Beeman catalogs only show the thumbhole Running Boar, Universal, Long stippled and Junior models available. Of course the Tyro was an option as well. In these catalogs the Long stippled stock is labeled as "Match". Looks like by Fall 1983 the Universal was updated to the Gen. 2 Long stippled straight stock as well.

1985 catalogs show the shorter stocked Gen. 2 300S "Match" but no longer the Long stippled stock for that model. Change could have been the previous year, I do not have access to the 1984 Beeman lineup.

This led me to believe the different style Match stocks ran consecutively and did not overlap. Perhaps Beeman only imported the "L" version to go with the newly introduced Model 2000 .22 small bore.

Steven: I noticed that very thing for the first time, looking through old Beeman catalogs recently. I don't know the story behind it! Maybe some kind of goof in the catalog photos? Or maybe Beeman actually sold the L stock as his standard model for a period.

Beeman did occasionally change guns from their factory state. An ex-employee told me, for example, that they bought some extra Tyrolean stocks and "created" new T's in their shop, so maybe something similar happened with a batch of L stocks. At any rate they are lovely guns and do seem to turn up fairly often.

In other words...my impression is that the long stippled stock was never the factory standard for the basic Match model...but I could be wrong.

1BadDart: Thanks - great pics and an interesting comparison! I would point out that your Match stock is a first-generation one. The later version was even closer to the L stock in general shape, especially noticeable in the forward "sweep" at the top front of the cheekpiece.
