Spidey senses a-tinglin' (reading between the lines)

In perusing a classified section recently, the subject line set my 'Spidey senses' a-tinglin'. "Boxed packed (Such & Such) for sale".

The more I read, the more 'tingly' went my Spidey senses. There were photos of the item outside the box, making me wonder why a for-sale item would be boxed and packed before it sells. The body of the ad included another interesting statement, "not a single pellet fired it is guaranteed". Spidey senses all the more piqued, I noticed there had been no takers; but some inquiries.

One ad 'bump' included the statement, "very accurate".

Not saying tinglin' Spidey senses aren't occasionally mistaken. Just saying when contemplating long-distance commerce with strangers, it pays to be vigilant and/or possess 'horse-sense' developed from decades of 'horse-tradin'.

come on this is an every day thing if you read enough for sale posts, like hard hitting when you know it does 410 fps at best or great shape when you can see the rust or very rare when it is not or one of my favorites 495.00 for the old non functioning pistol is worth 75.00 bucks at best but it did have a box

so is it stupidity on there part or just plain dishonesty maybe a little of both or a lot of both

Only one way to find out, call the man out on his offer & pay his price when/if the rifle arrives. Maybe it’s a matter of cultural misunderstanding? English is my second language & I’m pretty good at it, but you would laugh your ass off if you hear me say “Chicken” “Kitchen” etc. I know my wife does. But perhaps your 🕷 senses are right, and the rifle will never show up.....

Why not just list all the facts. Skip "alluding" or whatever your doing.

Name the ad , name the seller, did he list his phone number? (thinking he did) Was this the rifle that was offered to ship first? You reported your Spider sinces to a mod right? Did you help everyopne out and contact him personally? The result? .. .. ... .

Is the ad currently up and running? Why?

I can respond only to the "boxed to ship" part. I will usually have a gun boxed and ready to ship when I put up the ad. I work out of town during the week, so if someone buys the gun I can email my wife the shipping label so she can attach it and take it into town. That being said, I always take lots of pictures of the gun exactly is it is being sold, and that will be included in the ad. And I usually don't say "boxed and ready", I usually say, "gun will be shipped double boxed and insured." And I am not a scammer. :)
