Sparrow and Squirrel

Seems my zero is a bit high, with the gun sitting out in the cold breezeway and bracing on the air tube vs. stock when I was zeroing in the warm basement. I'll have to fine-tune it this afternoon.

The sparrow, I took yesterday morning. Compatto was on low power, and the pellet seems to have broken a wing and the back. In this video, you can hear my 4 year-old in the background saying: "Da-ad, where are you?" She wanted me to watch how she can put her socks on now.

The squirrel was this morning. It was a head shot, I was holding steady right between his eye and ear, but it went a bit high and cut a groove through the top of his skull. Looking at the video, it looks like he's done after the first shot, right? But a brain shot with no breakdance is suspicious. Sure enough, when I walked up to him, brains were leaking out, but he was still breathing. A follow-up shot with the HW30s and a CPL down through the top of the skull. Still breathing. Another follow-up shot with the Compatto, down through the top of the skull again and that finally put him down. Zombie squirrel, for sure. When I was cleaning him, the skull was pure mush. Not my most satisfying pesting sessions, with both animals requiring follow-ups. I just don't have as good luck as many do with brain shots, but I keep going for them, as they never run off, even if they require follow-ups. (opposite of lung shots, where they sometimes run off, but always expire)

The pellets are awesome though. Baracuda Hunters. Accurate, and they hit with a smack similar to wadcutters.
