South Florida Iguana Hunt Question

The joys of invasive species. Like the Eurasian Collard Dove, English Sparrow, Rock Pigeon, Lake Trout in Yellowstone Lake, now the Fox Squirrel in the Salt Lake Valley (no native squirrels on the valley floor),

Sometimes you just have to remove the invasive to protect the locals. Just ask the Park Service about Yellowstone Lake. If you catch a lake trout in Yellowstone Lake, it's illegal to throw it back.

You'll love this one. People blame wolves for the declining Elk population in Yellowstone. Not true. It's actually due to some person (I won't use the terms I'd like to) illegally planting lake trout in Yellowstone lake 30 or 40 years ago. As the story goes -

Each lake trout can eat over 40 Cutthroat trout per year.

Because the lake trout are demolishing the cutthroat stocks, the cutthroat don't migrate up the little streams to spawn.

Because the cutthroat don't migrate up the little streams, the bears don't have cutthroat to eat when they come out of hibernation in the spring. Those Sows need to feed the cubs!

Bears are uniquely adapted to kill Elk calves. So, they take lots of elk calves in the spring. Bears can smell them, wolves cannot.

So, while wolves take their share of Elk, the bears are adapting to a condition brought on by some (can I use the term a$$hole) that planted lake trout in Yellowstone lake 30 or 40 years ago and really taking a toll on the Elk stocks

The Park Service is spending millions to kill the lake trout and try to save the natives. Just tell the Karens you are doing the same for South Florida for free.

It's all the chain of life!

Hello AGN, if I wanted to drive down to Miami and hunt Iguanas without being attacked by Karens and Snowflakes where is the best place to go? I want to help rid South Florida of the Iguana invasion!

I would private message member 'orion', he does a lot of iguana hunting in the Miami area and might be able to help you. If that doesn't pan out, try member 'Hapo' he seems to be in the know.
