Thanks guys...My original cocking shoe developed stress cracks on each side of the top lug to where the lug bent up slightly and allowed the cocking lever to fall out of the notch and swing freely. Broke the gun down, removed the cocking shoe, tempered it cherry red with an acetylene torch, then buried it in sand for two hours to soften it. Pushed the lug back where it belonged, and welded up the stress cracks on each side. Dressed it, re-case hardened it, and threw in a new Maccari spring/delrin top hat and steel washer. Reassembled it , and its a new gun. This is the early, 4-digit rifle that I installed a new piston seal on, but was twangy, and I couldn't get to shoot over 650 with 8.4 FTT's. Now it's shooting FTT's at a brisk 820 fps ( not bad for a 4-digit gun)... and the twang is gone... just a "thunk" now. Stacking FTT's and JSB 8.4's at 35 yards. Absolutely fell back in love with her. Thanks for all your input..it's much appreciated ..
