Sound supression in general and specifically the EdGum R5M

If fps is equal, (lets say 890) will .22 and.25 be equally load and more importantly equally suppressed coming from same gun with same moderation.I am specifically considering the Edgun R5M in .25 or .22. I would like the .25 but need backyard quiet. On his videos, Ed says he only hears the mechanism and then of course pellet impact.

thanks

I’ll let you know. I’ve got an R5M standard in .25 coming in this next week.

Are you specifically interested in just the R5 platform? In general my .22 PCP’s are quieter than my .25’s when both are suppressed. Question is, do you need a .25 or .22?

I am interested in the R5M platform but you are correct, I don't "know" if I need .25. I just don't want to get .22 and wish I had moved up, but a too load .25 will be unusable in my backyard. I thought .25 for better groups? and occasional pesting of groundhogs.Congrats on your purchase

What is your distance you’ll be shooting in your back yard? How close are your neighbors?

My PCP’s sound louder when shot near my house due to the sound bouncing off the walls, despite the guns being generally quiet in the field.

If you are interested in discreet shooting, I’d go for a .22 PCP with ability to add on a DonnyFL or similar moderator.

The quietest PCP I own is a Taipan Mutant in .22 with a DonnyFL moderator added on. Laser accurate. Puts out roughly 25 ft lbs tuned to my liking and has taken out plenty of vermin out to 40 yards.

Groundhogs can be dispatched with a .22.

I have an R5M .25 standard. The only noise is the hammer. It’s a pretty high pitch hammer, but it doesn’t travel. The moderator Ed has built is crazy quiet... just the hammer is what you will hear.

ive tuned it down to 590 FPS shooting 34gr MK2’s. It kills anything in my backyard, and now the hammer in my ear is just a ting.

Thanks, that is what I was hoping for
