How would you guys describe the sound of a solid hit on an pest? I think the descriptions will help my search. personally I love the 'fooop" when a pellet hits flesh. I hope this is not offensive to any members. dark

Bone hits sound different. Almost like a knuckle crack.
I do like the rotten fruit "thoop" sound. I have some hollow point slugs that sound like a firecracker on impact. Love those too

A squirrel is kind of a hollow “thump”, birds; more of a “pop”, a cottontail, being more lightly built than a squirrel, is somewhere inbetween. Depends too on what portion of the anatomy the slug hits

I always thought of the sound of a solid body hit like beating a rug...head shots sound more like hitting a baseball much more of a crack....birds more like hitting a pillow

Long ago I wanted to hear a pellet passing near my ear. Soooo, I stood behind the corner of a building and a shooting pal took shots past the corner of he building. I wanted to know what birds and game would hear if we missed our shot.
The sound was a lot like a zipper and would definitely spook quarry. However, I have had opportunity for a second shot several time.
