Something happened to my 48? **Update**

I was in my shop shooting my 48 this am, probably shot it ten or twelve times and all was good. On the next shot attempt it wouldn't cock, the sear is not holding the piston back. I've tried several times and it won't cock. The trigger is not set terrible light, probably 2-3 lbs.
This rifle is only about six or so months old but I think I'd rather tear id down myself than send it back. I have a family get together this afternoon so I can't do anything with it, maybe tomorrow.

Any one have any ideas?

Make sure the sears aren't binding and sticking. Sounds like something is keeping the sear from rising and engaging the piston, might be one of your trigger adjustment screws came loose on you?

So just for grins if you push the trigger forward from the back side of the trig will it cock? You might need another hand to help in trying this.

You have a broken main spring, a LM kit will last 10,000+ shots.

Google the diagram for the t-06 trigger and look at the trigger hook spring. Then check the trigger in your gun. Sounds like the same thing that happened to mine and it was the trigger hook spring. If it is order a new one and replace it.

Thanks guys, I'll try to tear it down this week. I used a pipe clamp as a spring press on my 34 after I removed the barrel. Can I press on the end of the barrel on the 48?

I just removed the action from the stock, the trigger was cocked so I pushed the safety off and released it. I took a small allen wrench and reset it several time and it worked fine.

Butch I googled the "hook spring" and mine is not broken. CS910 in the link below.

Justin I don’t know anything about your 48 but have you tried to reset your second stage. Maybe you have it adjusted too light and it’s not cocking. Just my 2 cents worth.

Okay guys, I bundled up and went to the shop and took this ba$tard apart. This is why it wouldn't cock, should've bought a HW. The next question is where do I get a new piston?

Never seen that before. How did the latch rod come out of the piston?

Got parts off them in the pastand were pretty easy to deal with. Told them about my hook spring and they sent me a new one for free. Tell them what happened and they may send you a new piston for free. Might want to see a pic too.

Thanks Butch, I'll call Tuesday and order one. The pi$$er is that when this happened I released the bear trap and the cocking lever got away from me and marked the receiver when it slammed closed, luckily my fingers were clear.

Glad it didn't get your fingers. I see from the pic you still have the stock internals. At about 10,000 shots your probably going to replace the spring. When that happens you may want to give Tom a call at Vortek and get you a pg2 kit. I really like the way mine turned out with it. Good luck Tuesday.

I installed a PG2 kit in my 34 and it is like a different rifle, well worth the costs IMO. I was planning on doing the same with the 48 but at this point I'm not so sure that I wont just fix it and put it up for sale.
