Today I tried some locally made slugs in .22 and .25.

Following is pic of 10 shot group with BSA .22 barrel with 19 grain .219 dia at 24 yards.

Following is 55 yards 10 shot group with locally made 31 grain .250 dia slugs out of LW polygonal barrel at 880 fps.

Following is 24 yards 10 shot group from my RAW HM1000X with .249 slugs 31 grain. Original polygonal barrel.

In my hands solid barrels are shooting slugs much better than FX liner system.

poligonal rifling? cut grooves or radius along edges?
I have FX liners cannot remember which one is a most aggressive choke but definitely not the same, these are the twistrates:
1:16 (22x600)
1:18 (25x700)
1:24 (25x600)
1:27 (25x700)
and just bought couple days ago one 1:15.5 (22x600) in the mail as we speak.
I have one liner that is soo tight choke you cannot push the slug through with a cleaning rod without putting your own weight on it.
Also I have couple different length AlphaP barrels with no choke 1:17.7

What platform(action) was the BSA?

what kind of LW barrel is it? 600mm polygonal with choke or without choke?
LW in .25 polygonal has little choice of twist rate and length, but I also wanted to try and install a LW barrel on the M3. From 700mm they are only found in .30 and .357 calibre

600 mm un choked LW polygonal .25 barrel machined to fit FX Impact

I'd like to try to make an impact barrel in .25 cal, starting from a LW blank. In your opinion Is better a classic 12 groove 1:17.7 without choke or a polygon without choke? My shooting distance is around 100 meters, with pellets and slugs, and I'm looking for maximum accuracy

I would prefer polygonal un choked for slugs.

You can also start with choked polygonal and gradually trim the muzzle in order to keep it good for pellets and slugs both.

My Sinner .223 match airgun has a 720mm LW barrel, twist 16 inch , no choke and that is amazing accurate. Until today this is the best airgun ever
for 100m benchrest shooting.
The left card is my match result of the last match in 2022 ,which was my worst result of 5 matches, but the 5 shot groups size are nice. The right card is my Anschutz 1813 supermatch. More points ,but the groups are not as good as from the airgun.

My .177 BSA R10 shoots 12.6 Howler slugs just as accurately as 8.53 Kaiser domes and 15.42 GAMO G-Hammer. Dime groups at 25 yds in the back yard. Lots of fun. Those are my three current go-to rounds delivering 19.5 to 21.5 fpe consistently. The 8.53 Kaisers run at about 900 fps and the Howler Slugs at 850, while the 15.42 GAMOs come in around 800 fps. All whisper quiet with the Huma shroud.
