Some questions for Springer enthusiasts

1. No dont compete have with just about every thing but a air gun.

2. Yes i do shoot paper with a spring gun best tool i have to mantain good shooting form. With out burning powder.

3. Yes i do hunt with them but not near as much as i would like. Grew up doing nothing else, but now my springers get used the most for pesting. Most of my hunting is done with scatter gun, bow or blk powder. Free time is in short supply for me now days. Dont get to chase small game near like i once did but still make time for it every chance i get. Usually drag out my fen 124 or my anchultz 130 ( dont think ever sold in the states? ) gift from African friend lucky to be alive. Entry level gun that is a tack driver. Both are 177 cal.

1) Competition very rarely. So rarely I just show up with my hunting gun and something to sit on and proceed to "compete" LOL

2) A good bit. Mainly to practice for hunting and to try out different tunes.

3) I hunt a LOT with air rifles. I don't mean shooting critters in the yard, I mean getting in the truck and driving to the National Forest to hunt squirrels. Have for as long as I can remember. I have PCPs, but almost always use a springer.

Go to rifle is an 80s HW77K in .177 with oring piston seal. Running at 13fpe. I have two .177s and a .22.

I'm building an old R10 for this season to try out, but I have a feeling I'll go back to the HW77K. They shoot so good it's hard to change.

There's something about the simplicity of a springer. A tin of pellets. Only one chance at bagging your critter. I enjoy hunting with my Springer's more than my PB's. However my muzzle loaders also give me similar satisfaction as my break barrels.

How do you get to hunt in a National Forest? I thought that was verboten?

Most of my shooting is restricted to my property where I shoot tree rats that have gotten out of control. Other than that it's plink, plink, plink.
