Ok folks, my opinion of the hatsan flashpup has soured a little. We had a club event a couple weeks ago and my son was planning to use the flashpup. I opened the case and the air tank was empty. No problems holding air up to this point except when i first bought, the gauge threads needed some teflon.
We were unable to use for the event and now i am finally able to take a look at it. So i needed to remove the stock from the frame. The front screw came out fine, the back screw was incredibly difficult. I had to really apply some torque to loosen. Will come back to this.
I decided to remove air reservoir from gun to inspect. Was empty anyways. The forward cap had always spun freely. I figured it swiveled for ease of access to get to the fill port. Come to find out, it had been loose all along and not even finger tight.
So i tightened, but still leaked after refilling. I resorted to soapy water. Front cap didnt leak, but the back cap did.
I removed, replaced "o" ring and reinstalled. Still leaked. Removed again, used another "o" ring and used some vaseline on it (didnt have any silicone oil). And tried again. Still leaked. This time added teflon and it holds air again. No idea why, out of the blue, that seal started leaking but at least its fixed.
Time to put it all back together. Slid the frame back into stock and began attempting to tighten the 2 mounting screw. Front screw went fine, but for the life of me, the back screw would not tighten. I thought i just wasnt finding the hole. I spent over a hour messing with this thing. A few choice words were involved. Decided to resort to youtube university. Watch "Brother in Arms" videos and discovered that the back screw was suppose to unscrew from the mounting post on frame. Problem was that the mounting post was inside the stock. So tried to remove the post from the mounting screw. That thing was a bear. After inspection, the mount screw was cross threaded to the post and stripped out the post on the inside. With the post out, i figured i could re tap the hole and just get a bigger screw. Before doing that, i tried screwing the post back to the frame. The threads just slid all the way in. Now i am really hot. My best guess is that both the mount screw and the post were cross threaded when assembled.
Now i am searching everywhere trying to find another screw and post, with no luck. Ive only had the gun since around March this year. Really dont want to send in for repairs and not have for a long time. My only though is to get a long screw of same size as mount screw and post combined and a sleeve to slide over thats the same size as the post. Unless anyone has any ideas of a place to order a part from?
