Some cool pigeons with the Shorty

Rarely post in here even though most my shooting is pesting. Don't think seeing starlings, sparrows and collared dove are that special to post. But got these 2 pigeons the other day that are just really cool marked. Beautiful red one. Really like these but don't get them very often on the dairy. Really should try to just leave them from now on and take out the normal ones. CPHP at 50yds just dropped it.

This ones white marking gave it away. Usually don't shoot these ones but this one I've spotted on the lights outside our barn and also by our maternity pen making a nest and just leaving a mess in both areas which is not ok. 66yds with an AA 16gr

I'm jealous! I haven't done any pesting since moving in March of '20!

I'm getting an itchy trigger finger!!!

Yupp, the thrill to kill. It's there alright.

On another thread we're discussing this — now on page 8 (eight!). 😄

Chris,

I feel your pain — the one in your trigger finger. 😟

The pandemic locked gunners (air and other) up for a very long time — as if nature was protecting its own...! 🙄 = A virus protecting the pests!

Sounds like a natural conspiracy theory to me.....

Shot a few more pigeons today but was looking what we had in the flock and I saw for sure 3 different red ones still with maybe a dozen with white speckles. These are roughly at 45yds with my scope on 4x. 2 red here and the other one shows one that was almost completely black.

Reticle looks useful at 4x. Is that the lowest power the subtensions are visible at for your eyes?

Nice shooting. I don't think I'd last long in your line of work but the pesting looks fun.

@scouty yeah it's quite useable at 4x. At 2x your pushing it with the subtensions really. Easy to use the circle of death around your zero distance on 2x but that's about it. And yeah it's not an easy job at all but I really enjoy it.

@lennyk thanks! And yeah for 50yds and in usually 4-6x and further 6-8x. Mainly 6-8x though is where it stays.
