Snowy Day Rats

Took a two hour trip to the dairy today it was snowing and I was hoping to capitalize on that. Arrived and saw all the pictured pigeons on the wires. My shooting position is 90 yards away. Had a slight head wind to the right. I could see the snowflakes angling slightly right. I typically dial 10 MOA at that distance but dialed 12 MOA because of the headwind. Missed! They took off, circled back and gave me two more shots, both kills. Did not retrieve those two. Shot the two pictured ones at 45 yards they were feeding on the ground. The one on the hay bale was shot at 50 yards. And before I could retrieve it a small hawk swooped in and took it away. So as I’m setting up for the rats in the barn. I’m startled by the same hawk who was in the building. It was getting ready to eat and I interrupted it. It dropped the bird and flew out the barn. I shot 5 rats, the pictured three with my Bantam at 45, 20 and 15 yards. I shot two with my Crosman 1701p at about 10 yards and could not retrieve them. I was using 7.4 RWS hobbies and though I could see blood splatter at the holes. They weren’t being anchored, the Crosman Premiers worked much better and I will be using them next time. That’s a size ten boot for scale.
