Snowpeak Snowpeak M60B .25cal First Shots

Here is my first shots video of my Snowpeak M60B after I have converted to .25 cal from .22.

I kept the original factory 130Bar REG and HS and I got avg speed of 835fps with the NSA 26.8gr slugs. After making some HS adjustments only, I was able to get 865fps.

Accuracy out to 50yards was decent but I think there is room for improvement.

Next test would be to increase the REG and get more speed in hope of tighter groups.

Max, Try some Benjamin .25 cal 27.8 grn pellets, they shoot like a Laser out of my Zelos .25, stack pellet on pellet.
140 bar, 921 fps, 52.37 fpe.

@KatoKevin454 Thank you for the suggestion. I was out this morning with high hopes after I figured out how to loosen the nut and increase the REG to 150 BAR. At the beginning, I was able to get decent groups out at 50 yards shooting the NSA 26.8 gr slugs at 875 fps. I then make small adjustments to the HS by turning it clockwise from the max left position that I left off from previous outing. Speed went up to 887 fps but groups were not consistent and opened up. Of course, the wind began to pick up and I didn't know if it was the wind factor or the REG/HS combination,

My gut tells me is was the imbalance of the REG/HS setting that caused the accuracy issue. Needless to say, I got frustrated and decided to quit for the morning. I did try the 34.9gr slugs and it was only flying out at 814fps (51.4 ft.lb), but the groups were even worst. I know these heavier slugs like to go faster, but I didn't feel like increasing the REG just to get more speed, knowing that my gun would be pushed too hard and shot counts would suffer as well.

My primary goal for this .25cal setup is to get tight groups less than 1" out to 50 and 75 yards consistently. If I can't push this gun to shoot 50+ ft.lb, then I will just have to settle with less power as long as the accuracy is there for me.

I am waiting for the H&N slugs (28, 30, 32 & 34 gr) to arrive next week. Hopefully, one of these slugs will give me the accuracy I want and the power as well,

The 30 grn shot extremely well at of mine.
Im going offer you a suggestion about the the hammer spring. If your hammer spring is 54mm . I would suggest that you cut back a 1mm at time. I end with 51-50 on mine before I got normal adjustment ( in on the hammer spring for more power, out less power ) and the inbalance that you spoke of Will go away. Also add some teflon tape to hammer screw it help with the loose fit.
Go ahead and set the reg at 150 and save yourself the head and ammo. The 135bar is good but just not as good as the 150-165. The Airgun just sounds some better there

@renowntwo. Thank you for the tips! Yes, the HS screw is very loose and that got me thinking how to solve that issue. Once I get the H&N Slugs, I will play with the REG again. It is currently set at 150 BAR. I like the idea of the spring shortening. Thanks.

You are welcome.
I found out that the hammer spring and adjustment screw had to be back all the way out.
If you take the butt pad all the way off you and adjust the hammer screw out more you will see the 60b gain more fps.
Seen / heard in your video how it sounds. Also seen in the video that long first stage of your trigger.
You can adjust some of it out simply by applying forward pressure to brass locking screw located beneath your pistol grip. It want be Fx level but it will be better.

Especially for heavier slugs I suspect you will want to use 160 bar or possibly even higher on the reg. It will cut down shot count but the effect on accuracy is less certain. Might actually improve it.

As I've said before, I have never even touched a Zellos or M60B but I have 5 SPA guns and I noticed on the latest two that the sear engagement screw the 3 earlier ones had is not there on the latest two. I agree completely with backing off on the little ball point pen looking spring on the trigger mechanism but if there is a threaded hole on the bottom of the silver metal block on the bottom of the action where the trigger parts are it is likely for a sear screw. Mine are 3mmx.5mm allen head screws with a lock nut. By turning in a screw in that location you can reduce sear engagement. I have a gun or two set as low as 4 ounces but I think it's safer to set them at half a pound minimum. You can set it too low and not be able to engage the sear or get it where it will go off on it's own. My SPA triggers have more variability than I would prefer. My P35-25 is set to about 8 ounces minimum but in 4 pulls I had one that was a pound. So you need to do several measurements. But the adjusted trigger of the P35-25 is less than half the weight of the trigger in the stock configuration and it is crisp whereas there was a little travel in the second stage of the stock trigger.

I know you want to use slugs and you have longer range shots to take so that makes sense. But my P35-25 likes JSB pellets and the 34 grain MK II has a decent BC, at least for a pellet. It also penetrates well. If you don't get a really good slug setup it might be something to try. I did a quick chairgun calc and if you could get the MKII going 880 fps you would have almost 40 fpe at 70 yards and only be about 4 inches low with a 30 yard zero. I think that would go through a coyote skull with no problem.

@JimD Thank you for you input on the trigger adjustment. Yes, I would go with the pellet option if I can’t get my gun to shoot slugs well. I am waiting for the H&N slugs before doing anymore shooting. Hopefully I will be able to get the optimal setup with the Reg and HS.
