Smoothtwist X owners

Hey there AGN! I am wondering if anyone who has a rifle with a smoothtwist X barrel and a rifle with a regular smoothtwist barrel has done a comparison between the two to see if the "X" barrel will work well with a wider range of pellets than the regular smoothtwist.

Matt (YouTuber from South Africa, whose last name is escaping me) has been shooting NSA bullets through a Smooth Twist X, and I believe was unable to get them to stabilize when shot through the previous smooth bore design.

I have both, have only shot JSB and H&N. My samples didn’t like the H&N. I think that the smooth twist and twistx were designed and tested with JSB, depending on caliber they were likely designed for a specific weight as well.

In .177 apparently it is the 8 grain but I have the 10 grain shooting well out to 100 yards at 900 FPS 

In .22 the 18 grain is a winner at around 880.

In .25 the 25 grain likes about 900.

I only use the JSB, they just work, clean up is manageable, consistency is acceptable and straight from the tin performance is also decent, one caveat, I suffer from mild OCD so I only buy thick skirted JSB, otherwise I turn into a pumpkin !

Riazp, were the H&N's you tried the domed pellets? Have you tried the Hunter or Hunter Extremes?

Have not tried a wide variety of brands of pellets, but have tried everything JSB makes. X-Barrel on a Crown and smooth twist on Impact and Wildcat. All 3 have a favorite pellet and speed for the sweet spot. After guns were adjusted to this sweet spot and then shot other weight of pellets, can't say that one barrel really preformed better then the other. If anything, maybe the X-barrel threw a few less fliers. sylvan

The H&N Hunter's shot very well from my Smooth Twist, similar to 25.4 kings.

Nope, only domed barracuda 21, have 5 unopened tins gathering dust... sometimes having few choices makes life simple, the H&N range is not easy to find while just about everything JSB has is available over the counter.
