I was looking around the scope section on Amazon, and i was shocked how many people still buy the

4x20
3-7x20
3-7x28

Scopes, are these even worth purchasing? i mean some of the scopes had 4-5 star ratings.

You can't shoot bullseye with that (i think)
For hunting? much better options out there.

Where do these scopes fit in?

I hope Joe sees this, and can give a explenation.

I think those people are probably ordering those scopes for their AR's. Its seems to me people buy the small tube stuff because well its cheaper and assume easier to use, or believe they dont need a large objective for close range shooting, I dont know. Only time I use something close to that is with a red/green dot sight, and only for "indoor" night pesting, because i'm only shooting as far as my red light cast into the darkness

The smaller objective scopes do not have as much parallax error as the big scopes. You do not need high magnification to hit a target. My Ruger #1 .243 wears a Leupold fixed 6x scope. My Ruger 77 .308 wears a 1.5-6x VX-III. Breaking clay targets placed on the 300 yard berm at the range is no problem. Gallon water jugs are good targets at that range for open sights.

I'm currently shopping for a scope to go on my Seneca Dragon Claw .50. This will be a pig/deer gun with a max range of 70 or so yards. The scope will need to be small enough to not cover the loading port, have a mil dot or trajectory reticle and most importanty-. I don want to have to deal with parallax issues. I have a Leupold 1-5x sitting on the shelf, but it has a duplex reticle. I may look into a Bushnell AR optics 1-4x 20, but a n illuminated reticle would be nice.

Here is my Dragon Claw wear

ing the Leupold VX-III 1-5x. I shot it today with a couple bullets at 30, 50 and 70 yards and am happy with the accuracy. 1 hole at 50 and 2 inches at 70 with both Neil's 209 and Air Venturi 185hp. Fixin to set up the chroni and see what kind of string it has, but I am excited for next huntin season already.
