I personally believe that "springer rated" is just something they either say to sell scopes, or say no to, to prevent having to warranty a cheap broken scope.
Notice this question usually only comes up when talking about cheaper scopes of dubious quality.
A properly functioning springer of reasonable quality is really not that hard on scopes. At least in my experience.
