Yesterday I took my .22 Wildcat and .22 Crown to the range to try out my new Pro Chrono just to see what they’re doing velocity wise. The Pro Chrono wasn’t working for $#/T. No matter how close or far, light screens, no light screens, just wasn’t seeing the pellet. Twice I did get a reading of 1470 (ain’t no way since there was no sonic crack) and another one was 455. So I put it away and got out my string resettable squirrel target I got from PA. It worked great. I shot 20 yards out to 50 yds.
My practice on the squirrel was done from my hunting chair and Primos trigger stick tripod. It was good practice.
This morning I went hunting for squirrels and chipmunks. It was a very slow morning, only two chipmunks and not even a squirrel sighting. I sat around for about two and a half hours and decided to give it up. There were tons of chipmunk head sized acorns all over the ground. I picked up about 25 of them and set them on stumps and logs at various distances out to around 30 yards. I sat back down and started laser ranging and shooting the acorns. That was some really good practice with a realistic size target and the sound that the pellet made when hitting the acorn was quite similar to the sound the pellet makes when hitting small game.

Beautiful day shooting at least! Nice WC! With my Pro Chrono I found that if the sun is low in the sky facing me, I cannot get any good readings....just my observation with mine! Beautiful land you get to hunt on, nice pic!
Thanks, if it’s a good picture, it’s an accident. I totally suck at artsy stuff. But even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile. Yeah, my gun club has about 400 acres to hunt on. For whatever reason I haven’t been succesful with locating the deer herd but now being retired I will find time to scout it.
Thanks for the Chrono tip. It gets really great reviews and I have not given up on it... yet. I put it out in the sun, sun shades, muzzle close, muzzle 12 feet. I’ll figure it out.
Wildcat has been good so far. Currently using FX 21.1gn slugs but wonder if JSB 18.13’s will work good for small game. At 50 yards with the JSB’s I was using a drywall screw head as a target and several hit the screw head and a group of 36 shots were nearly under a dime.
