I am shooting more and more slugs. I am still waiting for the slug liner for my Crown but in the meantime I have been launching slugs through my Sumatra 2500 500CC .22 with some fierce success. Most recently I launched some D-RIG and NSA slugs through my Evanix Air Speed as captured in this review. You can see that the slugs do really well.

I cant get my hands on slugs yet in SA and here they are very expensive..but closest thing I can get is H&N Piledriver 29.13 gr.. I understand it dont work in all airguns but my Red Wolf .22 HP just loves them on high power setting.

Hi Dano. I have a RedWolf also and never thought of trying the Piledrivers. What sort of accuracy are you getting? Thanks Michael

Ive gotten under an inch groups at 100m with the 23 and 28gr NSA and gonna try some of drigs 22.5 and 24 shortly from a Boss with a .22 unchoked lw polygon. Ive also cast some of the mp molds 5.55 and they did ok at 50 and 100, more like 1.5-2 inch at 100m.

Gonna trade molds for a 5.52 with drig, should be less sizing and work better for me.

The mp molds make heavy slugs 35-36gr in .22

I am looking at slugs though my Red Wolf at the moment as it goes over here in the UK. You cant get slugs for love no money here which is a right pain. I am contacting people in the States as I need some to try . I am told that 23 gr slug will out perform a 34 gr JSB with ease ...I must say that the 34 grain JSB will take some beating because they are bang on out to silly distance . I want to try some though just to see .

My own experience with the piledrivers in .22 at 34 FPE through a Kral barrel was not impressive. Accuracy was nothing to brag about at 30 yards and quickly fell off after that, loaded front side .or rear side leading had zero improvement. The terminal ballistics on pests was horrible, the piledriver did nothing to expand and consequently punched neat little pencil holes through the target with almost zero energy transfer.

Your experience may be better than mine, as each gun has its own preference. I will never try those again as a hunting round.
