slugs in FX Dreamline compact?

What kind of Velocity gains did you see after adding the 1st and then the 2nd plenum?

Not much. Maybe 10fps. There is no substitute for a longer barrel. You could add 13 plenums but if your barrel is too short, you’re just going to be wasting air trying to push stuff faster. That addition plenum with at least a 500mm barrel? Now it starts making a difference. Problem is you no longer have a Dreamline Compact. The Compact was never marketed as anything other than what it is, a good medium range pellet gun.

The sweet spot speed for the compact .177 and .22 300mm barrels is right at 750-760 FPS.

.177: nsa 12.5 grain slugs at 760fps and it’s very accurate out to 120 yards.

.22 : NSA 23 grain slugs at 750fps and it’s very accurate out to 120 yards

both can can go to 150 yards if the wind is not horrible but VERY doable, night and days better than pellets even with 177 slug.

for .22 you probably will need 150 bars to get the 23 grain slugs to 750 so maybe try 20 grain NSA. At 150 bars you will need minimum medium hammer.

have not tried .25 compact barrel since I sold it a while back but I bet you can get the 26 or even 29 grain NSA to 760-780 FPS from the Dreamline with the 380 mm superior barrel and be very accurate too!

only thing is slugs out of short barrel is quite a bit harder to tune because slug doesn’t like muzzle turbulence so finding an efficient tune right at the sweet spot speed does take a bit of effort and time.

I bought a Dreamline Tact Compact in .177 with the idea of shooting slugs. As received, it shot JSB 10.4 gr pellets at 870 fps and is pretty accurate at 50 yards. I then tried 12.5 gr NSA. The velocity dropped quite a bit but it shot ok until about 100 shots then the accuracy went South. When I cleaned it, there was significant leading in the choke area. After cleaning, I slugged the barrel. A .178 diameter slug came out 0.174. I conclude that the choke on this barrel is way too tight for slugs. I asked Nick at NSA if he intended to supply .177 cal in smaller diameters, but he said there was no request for them.. I polished the dickens out of the barrel with JB bore paste and we'll see what happens. I'm thinking of getting a 500 mm barrel and cutting the choke area off and see what happens. Anyway, I like the gun. It's fun to shoot and handy. I actually bought it to tinker around with which I said I would never do. Next step is to change the TP and probe and see if I get more out of it.

I polished the choke on all my fx barrels with JB bore paste….100-120 strokes. No issues after hundreds of slugs and thousands of pellets. I haven’t pushed my 300mm 177 barrels with nsa slugs out to 100 but I got them touching at 50 yards. The 500mm barrel can get sub MOA if I get the wind right. Both of these are at 100 yards from my 500mm barrel, the 3 shot group was 0.58 inch.
