Slugs in a brocock???

I’ve got a brocock bantam Sniper magnam 22 cal I’m tempted by the performance of slugs.

My understanding is it takes an un choked barrel with the right twist

With powder burners you change barrels routinely no big deal.

What would be the possibility of turning this gun into a slug shooter by just doing a barrel swap?

Is this just impractical? I hear little about barrel swaps on air guns I assume it’s because it’s unnecessary because they typically don’t wear out.

I’ve been curious as to why other manufacturers (other the FX) have not gotten into the slug game

Have you tried shooting slugs in your Brocock Batam in its stock form?

I ask that question because my Taipan Veteran Long .25 cal with the stock LW barrel shoots slugs more accurately than my FX Impact .25 cal. 700mm barrel, with the STX slug liner.

If I'm not mistaken, the Brocock Batam also uses the LW barrel.

Try it!

I would start with say 24 grain and under.

It's all about finding that slug vs power combination for your gun. My Veteran is shooting the 24 VK slugs at 865 and is a freaking laser out past 100 yards ! My power tuned Cricket carbine in .25 is shooting the 33 grain Varmint knockers at 950fps and just amazes me every time I squeeze the trigger....both I believe are CZ barrel's but are chocked like LWs are...

The LW Poly barrels shoot slugs well but only at high power. Claudio and I played with quite the assortment of slugs and were able to get his Bantam shooting them pretty well. The .22 redesigned JSB's shoot fabulous out of most all of the .22's. The .25 caliber 34gr shot amazing out of my Commander tuned to 60 fpe. My experience is the .22's just don't have enough energy past 120 yards, they just fall off. The .25's are much better beyond those ranges.

Wait til nielson comes out with the 22 slugs from his high speed press and/or the h&n’s (don’t see it being much longer), pick up an assortment and do some baseline testing with your current barrel.

I just saw a nice test done by joe kool in the pcp airgun section under “teaching a old fx crown a new trick”. I like his methodology, definitely what I would recommend to get some good baseline data vs when you get a new slug barrel.

I shoot JBS redesigned 22s with great accuracy at 50 yards (Cloverleaf). I also shoot Nielsen 20.2 slugs with almost the same accuracy. My two BroCock Sniper magnums are stock.
