Slug diameter versus weight

I have a. 22 FX impact and I want to experiment with 27 grain slugs. I’m going to buy different diameters to determine which is best. My question is once I’ve determined which diameter shoots the best will this carry over into different weights of slugs? So if A .217 27 grain slug shoots the best and I want to try a 30 grain slug or 34 grain slug will that same diameter translate over.
 
Yes.... You will be looking for pellets in the Diameter that shoots the best.. i.e. fits the barrel the best...
So once you find what diameter your barrel likes.... Stick to this diameter and look for the weight you want to shoot.
