Slow Build Marauder vs FX Dreamline

I wanted to add to this tread, that when getting into a hobby as expensive as this one, make the first gun you get one that leaves a positive experience. It sucks to get into something, and the first choice ends up a lemon in build, design, and accuracy.

Pick a gun that’s easy to take apart and maintain, as others have stated, so that you can learn the workings of how a PCP works.

Pick a gun that is easy to get parts for. When I say “easy” I’m talking not only in availability, but in shipping time, also.

Pick a gun that if you ask a tech type question on the forums you get multiple answers from multiple folks with their own experiences with the gun, and not a gun that gets linked to “how to”videos or the majority of the replies back are to send it to a tuner or repair facility. Having said that, there’s nothing wrong with learning off of videos, but nothing beats getting your own tech questions answered in real time.

Im gonna sum this up with telling you that in this hobby, there is no “one gun and that’s all I’ll ever need”. Not for the folks that are serious about it anyway. There will be something out there that’ll catch your eye later on. So, that first gun you bought? Hopefully you picked one that left such a positive experience that you’ll never sell it to fund another. My 25 cal Marauder was my first gun, and it will never leave my hands, because it is a platform that’s tried and true, and when all the other high dollar guns fail due to expensive added gizmos failing, the Marauder keeps truckin’ along.

You indicated that you are considering a .25 Mrod. These come with Green Mountain barrels and there shouldn't be any need to upgrade, so the price will be a lot lower in the end.

Go to Crosman site or PA and you will see that the GM barrels are no longer used on the .25 Caliber. They are now using Crosman Barrels.

I recently went from a 22 marauder to a streamline 22. As I was packing up my Marauder I was having some regret as it was a great shooter, hole in hole groups at 30 yards with jsb’s.

Mind you this was a stock marauder, shot around 770 fps with the 18.13’s. I had it around 2 years, took many groundhogs with it.

When I received the streamline 22 I was just blown away at the level of refinement shooting it over the marauder. Not that the trigger on the marauder was bad, but its no comparison to the fx trigger. It was dead quiet with an donny fl sumo, no pinginess and reverb from the hammer after the shot, and just felt so much more consistent. The rifle is also much lighter and comfortable to shoot and the cocking effort was way more effortless.

The dreamline is just a continuation of the streamline platform basically and I can assure you that you will be very happy with this airgun. Get a nice donny fl and enjoy!

couldn't agree more. I went from a Marauder to an Impact. The Marauder is an excellent gun. Trigger is excellent, it does what it advertises. The Impact is just sooo much better (and it better be for 4 times the money!). The trigger is just that much better. The power control is just that much better, etc.

Were I buying a Marauder with intent to do everything I did (hammer spring, regulator, hammer, valve spring, new valves, etc), I'd just buy the Dreamline. Even after spending the $$ on the Marauder, the Dreamline is just that much better. I still like my Marauder, but the FX is just that much better. But, comparing a Marauder to an Impact really isn't fair. The extra $$ buys a lot more fit and finish. Spend more, get more (in most cases)

Ya know, I just picked up a forti

tude gen2, the accuracy out of the .22 barrel is very good. Added two 4/40 machine screws to the trigger, tweaked the transfer sling a little, stuffed dense memory foam in the buttstock and added a cheap hawke scope, it’s a little keeper. I used the coupon code for crossman, it was 234.00 plus tax and shipping it was 250.00. It shoots. It shoots really well. Is it as good as a fx or daystate? Hell, no. But if the fortitude cost 1200.00, would it be good? But at 234.00 is the fx or daystate 3 times better? Not really. For me it will probably end up as a truck air rifle, meaning keep it charged just in case I’m outside and a critter crawls up.

I got a marauder first , then a streamline, the streamline is a nicer gun probably in a few ways but I shoot my marauder the most and it is the gun when I need it to get the job done works the best, I think because the gun is just easier to shoot in different positions for me. Because the streamline is just as accurate, and the side lever is a nicer option too
