I responded to a post on another forum about bands to attach a sling to a barrel and looking at photos I am perplexed as to how these allow the gun to be shot accurately especially if the sling is wrapped around the arm for an offhand shot. I showed the photo below and was shown pics of barrel attachments and still do not understand how the harmonics would not be affected. In 60 years pf shooting I was always taught that anything touching the barrel can affect poi. When I got my Gamo Mach 1 attaching a sling to the barrel was never considered. The pics below show how I attached mine. The cord used is the cord used to attach D loops to a bowstring. So, am I making a mountain out of a molehill or not?

To each his own. Don't be shocked to see a bipod mounted onto their barrels too. People have the right to do whatever they want to if it's their own gun including using it as a car jack which I have seen. YO!

having the sling mount attached to the barrel is a way to avoiding modifying the stock.
Personally Id rather have a small hole in the stock than it hooked onto the barrel.
