Sirocco Stock refinish and recoil pad

I refinished a Theoben Sirocco stock and fitted a Pachmayr recoil pad. Original finish was red and mucky. Early Theoben stock. I fitted the recoil pad before the refinish so I know I can do it without damaging to the stock. Came out pretty good. I have trouble getting good light for the refinished stock but here it is.
Original finish with pad nearly fitted

Color is off on these due to poor lighting. But you get the idea. Definitely reveals more grain

You absolutely hit a home run. Great job

Thank you, Lewis. This would kill some of you guys. When I bought it from Davis S. at a show in 1988 it had a .20 barrel. I had him swap it out for a .177. And he sent it to me UPS. Do I regret it? Not a bit. $495 in1988.
I have a .177 and a .22 . Now that I have the stock fixed up I can get acquainted with the .22. I'll see how I like it at 17 ft lb. My 177 runs 16. Weighs the same as an HW95. I like how the palm swell fits my big ape size hands and the cast in the stock

Thank you for the compliments, gentlemen. I've done stocks a few different ways and I believe most would consider them more than satisfactory. I'm not selling $2000 custom stocks. I got the idea for this one here. In my opinion, for my purpose, he over complicates the process. I don't require every single pore to be filled. And I'm ok with a few wiskers obliterating some of them. But what do I know? My 2 cents ain't worth a dime.
Have a blessed day!

Good job Sir!
I love wood working too.
I assume that, having kept this guns for so many years, you must really love them. How do they shoot?
Ha! I keep all my guns and rarely part with any. I can't even tell you off hand how many springers I have. I think I have 32 prewar BSA.....about? BSA, Webley, Weihrauch, Theoben and some others.
Shoots like a magnum. If you tune all your rifles to sub 12 ft lb you don't want one. Very well finished metal work. Super smooth cocking if not a little hard. Of course absolutely no vibration. Definitely a top quality feel. These early long stroke actions are considered better by some. This model weighs the same as an HW95 so it's not a pig and carries nicely. It's a sporter, not just a bench gun. The 177 is running 16 ft lb. I got the .22 last year and wanted to do a few things to it so only shot it a few times to find it is 14 ft lb. I'll pump it up to 17 and try it. Soon. Work and family commitments, etc. come first.
