Single shot Pcps that later have multishot capability a marketing move?

I've always wondered why there are guns that are single shot loading when there are other models that appear to be built off the same platform that are magazine fed. I don't know the deep history of Pcps but I feel like this is the Golden Era of innovation and evolution for airgunning.

So, Why do some guns get released as a multishot later after starting out as a single shot? I'm not an engineer or a tinkerer so it's just an honest question. I wonder what the goal is for doing it this way and if the reasons relate to testing the market's demand for the gun first.

I understand single shot loading can reduce pellet damage from not loading correctly through a magazine, But I guess alot of my curiosity and asking this question stems from seeing some great guns out there that I wish would come magazine fed.

Just to name off a few

I'd love to see a Leishy that is magazine fed because I like the idea of it being the perfect backpacker.



A 30 cal r5m option would be fantastic..

I guess single shots for me better with slugs and pellets are better with multi shot

Like most multi shot guns have to short a magisine for slugs .and single loading with no tray is almost impossible on some platforms ,

so I guess they build what sells .
