Similar weighted pellets vs. slugs?

Woah. That is some serious speed there! My Avenger is doing 18.13s at 876 ish right now. That's how fast your 25 gr are doing! I'm at 2k psi reg pressure and 2.5 or so HS but can go up with both. (Power plenum)

I wouldn't think a 18.13 would be accurate at 970 fps.. or at least that's what they say. 20 yards is like a quarter of what I normally shoot at though. What are your groups like further out? At 40.5 yards a 18.13 at MV 876fps zips thru a rabbit head and keeps going to the woods another 30 yards back. Bet your 25 gr wouldn't even care about anything in its path! Lol
My RAW is actually de-tuned as it comes shooting the Redsigned @ close to 950fps which too expensive for me to shoot daily 😂 plus it uses too much air @ that tune. The JSB .22 18gr pellets seem to be the most flexible pellet as far as speed and accuracy that I have seen slow-800/fast-1050fps. I've seen folks sling them 1050fps @ 100yds close to MOA. I myself have taken ground squirrels on a non windy day out to 120yds with the 18gr. The issue with shooting them faster like 950-1050fps is the wind deflection is greater at those velocities, 900fps has less deflection at this speed in wind. But, that is why I chose to tune my RAW @ said speeds is to be able to shoot slugs on the same tune which fare much better in windy conditions, plus the Redesigned. I only target shoot with 18gr but when I go hunt/pest I bring all 3 and load a magazine with each one and if windy I usually pick the slugs over the Redesigned. Makes my tune flexible. I tuned it here because that is where the slugs are the most accurate as well as the other 2.

The Knockouts for me were a nice surprise. If you are pesting, they actually open up much better than anticipated and their accuracy might have even been a tad better than the Zan slugs of the same weight. This part is pure conjecture, but to me the sound of a Zan slug hitting a starling or squirrel is unmatched. It is just louder and angrier than any of the other slugs I have tried.
Have you tried Varming knockers slugs? Cause if you haven't, then you are in for a treat.

😅depends on the weight...
Can't find a 40gr pellet?🥴🤣🤙

Yeah I couldn't sustain shooting $$ pellets daily either. This is supposed to be a fun hobby lol. It's about 4 cents a shot with 18.13 gr for me and like you say they do well down lower speeds like where I shoot too. I'd like to see a 18.13gr at 1050 though that would be trans sonic for my altitude though but even then that'd really zip over and I bet my holdover would reduce a few mil dots! But like you say oh man that'd be so much air... plus I bet it'd be pretty loud compared to shooting them at 876 ish. I hand pump so I'm not gonna do that it's already about 2.5 pumps a shot for me. 1050 would be like 4-5 pumps!

That's great that you have the flexibility to change out per circumstance. I've messed with my gun so much it's almost to the point where I just wanna leave it be now.

Do you notice your groups change after you go back to 18.13s after shooting slugs? Mine didn't shoot right when I tried it. The group was moved and bigger. This was a while and lots of mods ago but I know I did not change my clicks at all. Just loaded slugs tried them then went back to pellets. I'm thinking some slug was stuck in the lands/grooves.

I clean my barrel after each tin of 500ct 18gr and POI has very little change, but, I do need to put some pellets thru it if I want to shoot slugs accurately right after cleaning. But, the 18gr's POI stays the same even after shooting slugs. If I load a slug that does not fit snug in my breech, that slug usually will not be accurate. Have you polished your barrel? Mine has been polished so it should be smooth with not much or any lead build up when shooting. If you have shot a lot of ammo then that also "polishes" or seasons (smooths out) ones barrel. Tuning for lighter ammo was from the beginning my thought to keep ammo costs down....😂👍....I do shoot daily weather permitting if home.

Maybe I'm due for a barrel cleaning then! Lol I polished mine recently (maybe 400 shots ago) and also got a carbon fiber shroud and the threaded adapter I have now sits right on the inner carbon fiber tube that's directly around the barrel so I think I will be better off than I was before. I've been messing with mine so much I just need to quit and settle down now but I see other fun stuff to do and test that out too. Haha

I thought you meant you went magazine to magazine swapping ammo types , so that makes more sense you had to send a few down range for it to settle or you cleaned it a bit then it settled after leading it in with some shots.

Yeah isn't it funny how the initial idea just grows so easily? 16gr? 18.13gr? 25gr? Lol

You've done all the important tuning/mods...time to just shoot like you said! And, yup, my initial idea did grow from 15.89-18.13-25.4grs in pellets. Slugs I actually went backwards...23gr-20.2-17.5.....😂👍
