I would like to make my FWB 300S mini more backyard friendly. Love the gun but has quite a bark to it. What suggestion might you have as far as silencer and how far will it go to reducing the noise?

Hello if you are not using your iron sights and a scope instead you can use a slip on type just remove the front sight pin and slide off the front sight. I had Mike from TKO22.com make one for me on my FWB300s and it works great. Hope this helps Eric

"They" do make a slip over converter to put 1/2 x20 threaded end on your barrel , i have seen it on line

Would it be best to put a threaded adapter or should I have a gunsmith thread the barrel? Any suggestions of brands of silencers that seem to work best?

Hello I use a Donnyfl Tatsu on my FWB700 and a TKO on my FWB 300s both work good. the Donnyfl is 1.6x4.25 and the TKO is 1.25x6 in long but only adds about 4 1/2 of length. As for threading the barrel I would use a slip on attachment with a grub screw so to keep the ability to going back to irons if you choose. Hope this helps Eric

Same thoughts here, I own an RWS 75TO1 and it barely makes any sound. The mechanics make more noise than the shot. Are we missing something here??

My Mini makes more noise than my 300. BUT I'm pretty sure it's all mechanical. The Mini is just a bare barrel, lacking the big heavy weighted sleeve on the non-Mini 300 series guns. I'm pretty sure that the extra noise is from the Mini not having the weighted/sleeved barrel. The extra noise from my example of the Mini seems to come from the process of the sled doing it's thing, not from the muzzle. I also suspect that the sled noise isn't as loud to bystanders as it seems to the guy holding the gun.

Just an FYI. I have a '77 300S and made a s/s sleeve to replace the front sight dovetail mount (purely cosmetic reasons) because I am using a scope. It threw off my POI so badly that I put the mount back, bringing things back in line. "Harmonics" (of which I admittedly know very little about) of the gun, as well as affecting the sledge mechanics, may be something to consider if adding things to that gun IMHO. In stock form, it's such a finely tuned instrument that I hesitate doing anything to it, the scope being bad enough (due to my eyesight). Just know that there may be trade-offs in performance. Thanks for all the suggestion and thought that went into your replies. I guess it would be best just to leave it alone.It is a great little gun and I am sure it is louder to me shooting it than to bystanders.
