Sight or Scope for P-Rod?

Scope, Imho. I am not a fan of red dot sights.

The P-rod is an honest 30-50 yard gun. To properly see what I want to hit I need magnification. Here is a photo of my results shooting for a staple at 27 yards... Prod with 3x9 scope.

My suggestion is a FFP (first focal plane) scope with mil dots. Many options, most very affordable, do a search.

My first and only ffp scope is a discovery 3-12x 44mm vt-3 I really like this and feel that this zoom range matches guns like the prod for 50 yards and under. The recitle is great and could be used further but to check my hits or routinely shoot further than 50 yards I would want more magnification.

I set my prod up with a picatinny mount and quick release scope rings where I have a red dot for close work 5 yards, simmons 6-21x (12 oz) daytime, and photon for night and they all held zero. I’m over switching scopes and don’t want to waist shots confirming it is zeroed as I hand pump. I’m over second focal plane scopes too after learning about ffp.

Good luck with your prod, my 2015 prod likes 5.55 and 5.54 H&N FTT but I use JSB 18’s as out of 4 tins 2 shot really accurate despite my barrel being oversized. I get 24 shots at around 637fps.

Received the gun Thursday and mounted the Leupold yesterday. Backyard plinking indicates things are in pretty good shape, but I need to zero and tweak the scope tomorrow when I go to the range.

The large shot count is because it has a 400 cc FX bottle.

Not crazy about the quick-release mounts. Even after I tightened them a bit they're not as secure as I'd like.

Took it to a field target match today. I only had 10 minutes to get the scope tuned and it was no where close (pellets hitting 2" low and 2" right at 10 yds, worse farther out). I did hit 7 targets somehow, and 30 minutes after the match had the scope dead on at 15 yds. I think it will be a good gun once I get used to it (i.e. figure out where/how to hold it so it shoots consistently).
