Sig Wiskey Zulu ASP 177 after prep tune 100 and 130 yards

So I gave the Sig the chance to perform right out of the box. And she did. Way beyond my expectations.https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/shooting-the-sig-asp-177-at-100-yards/

I spent a little time with the rifle following the above shooting session.

I took the time to scrub the barrel, very gently,, for a significant period of time, twice. I used JB bore paste. A 17 caliber coated rod, With turned copper jag. Short stroking the patch up and down the barrel. Paying significant attention to the bore, right where the pellet is loaded and the next 1-3 inches. I did not notice a choke of any kind at the end of the barrel. Which surprised me. The bore became very smooth and slick by the end of the operation. It was extremely difficult to even get a patch through when I started. I remove the scope for this operation. It’s kind of messy.

I adjusted the trigger to the lightest possible release. The trigger is quite manageable.

I put the biggest heaviest scope I own, a field target scope, 34 mm, 80 mm objective. I did this so I could see really good. And to add weight. To help me settle down the recoil. The recoil is still significant.

I was quite pleased with the outcome. Way beyond my expectations. I had a couple five shot groups that were under 2 inches, which is amazing for any springer in my opinion, let alone a sporting model, and very high powered one at that.

If anyone would like to trade their beach stock, for my plastic stock, and the original factory Whiskey Scope. PM me. I would pay the freight both ways.

the results:

Two groups that were hovering right around 2 inches see pics below. I also had 3 bigger groups 3-5 inches, one is pictured.

One of the groups was fantastically fun to shoot. They all just kept landing right next to each other. And right on my aim point. A group that would be fantastic with a target PCP. I’m obviously very impressed.

i’m going to put the smaller hunting type Scope back on now. This thing is not meant for 100 yards. It’s very difficult to keep your hold the same for five shots in a row. And any mistake you make is hugely accentuated. It is certainly fun to try, and pop can size targets would be perfect.

I’m going to show the 130 yard target first. 8 shots. It doesn’t really hold together well. Neither did my red wolf with the same pellets at that distance. Only the red wolf was shooting almost twice the power.

8 @ 130 yards Sig 177

For 130 yards I’m impressed. In good conditions I could hit a pop can some of the time.

at 100 yards it was phenomenal. Here are the best three groups below:

The one below was not quite as precise, but still quite incredible at around 2 inches

Another view of the magic group. It was raining. The paper was soaking wet. I was actually aiming at that little circle that was bleeding through the paper. It just doesn’t get any better. And I’ll never do that again.

Here’s a group shot with JSB heavies. They shot extremely well.

Thanks for sharing @flintsack What a treasure. Curious to to understand what was behind Sig's decision to pull it from the line-up.

Wonder how it compares to an HW90 from a 'gas-ram'/performance perspective.

Sig had to retool some of their firearm production machinery equipment in order to build the asp20. It was a business decision for them. They wanted the equipment retooled again for firearm production. Since firearms is their bread and butter they went back to making more firearms. This info I got from Sig reps.
