Sidewinders and slugs.

The NSA slugs .249 Cal that I have now (29 grain) fit loose in the sidewinder.25..... No accuracy at all.... Need to try the 34 grain that are .25 exactly.

The NSA slugs .30 Cal that I have now ( 43.8 grain) fit ok, but I need to play with fps to get to know how accurate it is.

What I can confirm right now is that:

Sidewinder .25 is very accurate with the JSB's 34 grain at 865 fps, close and at very long range.

Sidewinder .30 is very accurate with the JSB's 44.7 grain at 850 fps, close and at at very long range.

With the same configuration, my Vulcan 3 500 mm in .177 Cal, my Uragan in .22 Cal., my Vulcans 2 in .25 Cal and .30 Cal shoot perfectly well both , the pellets and the NSA slugs I have.

Apparently I will get to a configuration that my 43.8 grain NSA slugs can be accurately shot from the Sidewinder. 30 Cal.

Now I have a practical point:

I was looking shooting slugs in order to get accuracy at very long range.

With the accuracy already obtained with the JSB'S 44.7 grain at 190 yards and beyond, I honestly do not know what would be the gain investing more time trying to shot slugs.

Same story with the Sidewinder and the JSB'S 34 grain and the Sidewinder .25 Cal. Difference is that I have not received yet the 34 grain slugs to make test.

I just received the NSA slugs 33.5 grain that are exactly .250 Cal.

In the magazine of the sidewinder this new slugs fit a little bit tighter.

I made some shots with them and gave two clicks counterclockwise on the power wheel adjuster.

The sidewinder is accurate enough with this slugs, yes !! ........ BUT ...... At least MY sidewinder .25 Cal is much more accurate with the JSB's 34 grain MK II.

Please take into consideration that I am very strict in this judgement. Maybe for many of you the accuracy with these NSA slugs 33.5 grain would be to jump of happiness.

For my personal use exclusively, I can confirm to you that with my sidewinder there is no need of using the slugs.

The .25 Sidewinder magazine works well with 34 gr JSB pellets, but several of the slugs I've tried fit too loosely and would not stay in the magazine. When I contacted AoA about this, they did some testing and found the ZAN .253 (33gr) fit snugly. With factory settings, a 15 round magazine of these at a 20 yd target produced a ragged hole.

These 4 slugs I found are not compatible with the .25 Sidewinder magazines, as they just fall through:

H&N Heavy .249 (40gr)
Fx Hybrid .25 (44gr)
JSB KnockOut .251 (33.49gr)
Javelin .251 (44gr)

A .252 might fit, but have not found this size anywhere.

My guess is that slug compatibility with the Sidewinder was not thoroughly tested by Western Airguns.

I just got a new MK3 sniper .25 and it loves the JSB MK2's ....I'm getting awesome accuracy 100 yards plus.......I feel the same way about how it's shooting the JSB's....no need for me to go down that slug rabbit hole...... I'm perfectly happy shooting these pellets...:)
