side wheel size & shape???

So I know the bigger wheels help fine dialing of the sidewheel and the FT guys like'em big for that very reason but at what size does it become impractical for non-FT use? Also I have seen sea shell shapes and off center eccentric wheels, what are the pro/cons of those?

I wanna get a side wheel for my Helos and Athlon doesn't make them nor they planning on it but did refer me to Scope Werks that custom makes them. I just have to figure out what size and shape I want.

I do have a UTG 80mm sidewheel that I squeezed onto a Athlon Talos which made it much better.

So what are your thoughts on side wheels?

I have a 6" wheel that's used for FT, and I can't imagine taking it out for hunting; it would be a real pain; probably 4" would be better for that.

'Sea shell shapes' and off center eccentric wheels give you the best of both sizes by spreading out the focus range at long distances, so that you still can accurately read off intermediate values beyond beyond 50 yards yards (where a big wheel is best) without having huge movements for close in ranges (where all you need is a small wheel, and where big wheels are far from optimal). Another advantage of these eccentric designs is that they are easier to fit in a gun case, where big wheels can be hard to accommodate.

The following web sites have different sizes and designs, and some explain the above issues probably better than I have.
