........... Show US UR GLASS .............Preferred Scopes!

Orion!

Happy to see another IOR/Valdada fan here. Great glass for a lifetime to last.👍
As you, I also have the Recon, but the gen 1 version, and as crusaders little brother it suit the impact very well. And the small ior Pitbull 1-6 on one of the Rancheros (not sure, but maybe the pitbull is out of production now). Happy shooting!

My preferences have been covered nicely by a Vortex Diamondback 4-16x44 and a Riton x1 Primal 4-16x44. No pics of the Vortex as I write this. It's on the Marauder. But below is a pic of some squirrels I killed last week with the new Kratos .25 wearing the Riton.

I own another Riton that sits on my long range powder burner. So far I really like the Riton brand. Guaranteed forever regardless of who the original purchaser was. They don't repair or refurb when you have a return either. You get a brand new model sent back to you. That's what sold me. So far out of the two that I own and the one that the gf owns, we've had no reason to return them.

When I ordered the second Valdada, was originally the Spyder, the little brother of the Crusader, is basically a Crusader in miniature, but the exit pupil was so small my scope cam was not working, so I order rhe TX Raider, I was looking something with close range focus. These scopes are very expensive, but ince you use them, you can't go back

@orion, I was planning to do the exact same thing you were by ordering the Spyder for my new M3. I am very happy to see this post because I would like to use the OrionCam with it if possible. Glad to know it won’t work. How do you like the TX Raider as compared to the Recon G2? I’ve loved my G2, but I want something a little smaller for the new Impact. I also wasn’t sure about the lack of markings on the parallax of the TX Raider. The G2 is dead on accurate and it helps me in ranging. I would like to have that if possible. Love to hear your thoughts on the TX Raider.

Thanks!

I'll create a new post to compare the 2 scopes and not hijack this post.

Awesome idea

One of the things giving me a little bit of pause is the weight of the IOR's, especially the TX Raider. 1.25kg is a LOT for a 3-25 power scope but I'm hoping it more than makes up for it in overall image quality, mechanics etc. That and the uncertainty of whether to go for the IOR recon or tx raider 2.0 vs the Recon G2. Weirdly both recons are lighter than the TX Raider despite their increased mag but are still element titan hefty.

I can get IOR direct from Eastern Europe via optics trade for an almost unbelievable saving vs what they're sold for either in the US or locally in SA. The Recon G2 looks fantastic but being a LOW product from the US based valdada costs a fair bit more, although still a lot less than Nightforce and co.

So a video would be helpful deciding whether either or both are suitable for my uses, and whether the G2 might be worth the premium and wait time over the raider (or the G1 Recon Richard Utting rates, which is actually cheaper than both but just seemingly out of stock everywhere).

For walking style hunting I do like my Alpha6 1-6x LPVO with one of the most forgiving/generous eye box on any scope I’ve tried. It’s definitely one of the fastest LPVO, I’ve returned many much higher priced LPVO scopes thanks to the cheap Alpha6. Sadly I wasn’t smart enough to get the Barra LPVO scope when I had the chance.

For hunting involving longer ranges I prefer the Element Helix SFP, best all around hunting scope under $1000 IMO.

For longer range precision shooting I prefer the crimson trace series 5 scope I got on sale from midway. Fantastic glass with awesome resolution and good reticle for really far down range

Then the Japanese Barra scopes I got from eBay for cheap are simply astonishingly good but designed for center fire hunting, still good for airgun to a degree. Low light transmission is stupendous, nothing I’ve seen has been close. Definitely my preferred center fire hunting scopes for under 300 yards.

I got most of my scope selection thanks to Yo with the exception of the element which he hates. LOL! And not for lack of trying either, I’ve bought and returned 2-3x the scopes I own and his recommendations outside of the ELEMNT stands 100% accurate.
