Shout out to Qball and Kgphotos

When I got my new MK2 Crown in .22 I didn't know the first thing about tuning them so I contacted these 2 guys (like 50X each!). I thought I'd post a couple of targets I shot while trying to determine what power setting was best. I don't have a slug power kit. Only change to gun is a glued on CF barrel sleeve and a 580cc CF bottle. also has a Saber tactical bottle mount and Harris bipod. I shot off bipod and rear bag. Had about a 5 mph breeze that didn't seem to do much. On these targets I shot 5 groups of 5 at each power setting from 15-23. The numbering is a bit wacky. Anyway the best aggregate group was at setting 23 which is shooting the 25.39 MRDs at 940 FPS and is .395" C-C. This is at 50 yards outdoors. The worst aggregate group was .65" C-C. ( not counting #16 that I didn't shoot all 5 groups DOH!) Pretty much everything is MOA. I was impressed since the best setting shoots almost as good as my 22 rimfires outdoors! Next I have to figure out how to shoot slugs this good. I'm afraid to get a slug kit because I'll have to do this all over again! The NSA 24.8 slugs do the best, but not near this good.
Any one have any suggestions on how to improve these feel free to let me know!
Tom

Great shooting and great groups at 50 yards especially with wind. Glad I can be of help and welcome to the addiction.

As far as slug goes I would try the nsa .217 or .2165 in 23 grains. The 24.8 grain does NOT have better BC so no point shooting it over 23 grain. The 27.5 grain is a worthy upgrade but you “should” get the heavy liner for it, the superior can shoot the 27.5 grain but not ideal.

Okay. I'll order some. I should have no problem adjusting for that FPS range next time out.

I read some people here saying they get one hole groups at 50 yards and 1/4" groups at 100 yards. I never got that with my Vudoo rimfire and can't imagine how they or their guns shoot that good. I could get consistent average 5 x 5 groups of .3" at 50 and .75" at 100 but never better with my Vudoo

It is theoretically doable but that’s more about shooter’s ability to read the wind and some luck. Side by side with same POA there is still no contest between a well sorted rimfire and airguns. much closer than we thought possible mere years ago but still not that close. Granted with the fancy Alturo slugs with BC of 0.2x it is possible.

BUT consistent 5 shot groups of MOA or better at 100 yards with airguns is no small feat by any means! If I read the wind wrong by just couple of MPH there goes the 100 yard MOA group.
