Dan, I assume you have owned a Veteran and speak from experience. No single rifle suits everyone. But, I also own a Veteran, and over time, I have come to two conclusions: First, I really like the design, and do not find the lever position to be an issue at all. In fact, when shooting from a seated position and using my shooting stick, I reach over the comb and cock with my left hand, so the rifle remains at my shoulder with the right hand in shooting position. Probably sounds odd, but it is extremely natural for me. Oh, and secondly, I've discovered that most folks who complain about the Veteran format have never tried one.No, get a rifle with the mag in front of your ears and the action when cocking in front of your natural hand position
You'll regret having to cock the action each time by reaching waaay back up against your neck, poor design IMHO
Marko, I own a Standard model in .22, and it is quiet. I don't believe noise will be a problem for you.
