Captain’s Log: Sometime during legal pesting season.

On the subject of Heart shots vs Head shots. This one took a JSB 18 at about 28 yards. No exit wound, right through the shoulder bone, fell over in situ, quivered a couple secs, and all activity ceased. No helicopter tail, no jumping bean in a hot pan, nothing.

PERFECT!!! It beats a head shot any day. They move their heads too much and too quick to be a sure kill. I'll take a heart/lung shot any day over a head shot. Head shots are for bragging purposes only IMHO. I've badly maimed too many squirrels with botched head shots. A heart/lung shot may sometimes be a bit slower kill, but it's a sure kill. The same goes for all game. That's why you never see a big game hunter make a head shot! I know head shots will always be popular. But not because it's the most reliable kill.

Man Intenseaty, great shot and cool pic. I must say though that it’s as if you’ve changed. I see the name on your posts but don’t see the crazy eyes pic/avatar that you used to have. Funny, I get so used to associating people’s comments with their profile pics that when they change them it takes me awhile to remember who is commenting and thinking “oh hey, that guy has the same set up as the other guy” only to realize they are the same guy (insert a forehead slapping Homer Simpson emoji) I really enjoy your posts!
PS I’ve seen where FX has converted to an arrow gun but how did you ever convert your Cricket to shoot twigs that accurately? :p

It sounds like an effective kill, and that stick should give you a guest spot on CSI.

Most squirrel targets indicate the best shot placement is just behind the front legs, and I was kinda curious of squirrel anatomy It took a bit of searching and I found this https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/uncyclopedia/images/4/40/Squirrel_Anatomy.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20060903021436 interesting.

I somehow managed to miss on a headshot, and followed up with a body shot about an inch closer to front-leg than mid-mass. That squirrel went down hard too with just a tad of helicopter tail. I would agree with the consensus that heart shot is the way to go.

Yup, same thing happens to me. The avatar was just a little worn out, was time for a change. And apparently it was freaking out some folk here, HA! (names will be withheld)
Clockwork Orange, Great movie btw. “This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old Ultra-Violence”

The Cricket convertion was a direct collaboration with Joerg Sprave. It has a 15 twig, rubber band actuated magazine.

LOL, I stole that stick trick from Smaug, I think. I like the “Magic Happens Here” sign.
