Thanks for the test. Regardless of sound meter it sounded like the Gamo was the quietest followed closely by the Stoeger then Xisico then Walther being the loudest.

Do you have a Walther LGV Competition Ultra or HW77 or 97 or HW30s or Beeman R7 or FWB300s to side by side comparison for relative loudness?

These are the quietest springers I recall shooting.

My newly acquired Canadian spec 500fps 177 Crosman F4 Nitro Piston seems pretty loud fprvots relatively low power it really surprised me.

In .177, these are all I have at the moment.

This one is just a "test run". Still have to figure out a good sound level app, or better yet, some sound level GEAR.

Of the four, I think the XS46U was the quietest, but also the most "offensive" sounding. That spring needs some grease or something.

The Stoeger and Gamo were really close, but I think overall, the S4000-E "won".

Nice test! Have you ever mounted silencers on any of these? I have an Xisico XS25s .22 but it's a little too loud for my yard.

I found the NIOSH has a free iPhone app. It seems to give me more consistent results than the paid dB meter app I have. The absolute numbers are probably off but as long as you shoot at the same time back to back (and have the phone/gun in same position) I think it's decent for comparisons.
