It ran down into the ivy on the steep hill. I'll probably find it in a few days or if the crows show up sooner. It was a good hit, that thing did not survive. Once they go down that slope you might as well be looking for a needle in a haystack. I'd have done a headshot but it would not sit still. It was hanging out for a while and I take any decent shot I can get in order to get rid of these. There are dozens in the forest out back every night howling..

Just curious. How fast is your gun sending those down range? Newbie still looking for the best options here.

It’s probably taking a forever nap hundreds of yards from where you shot it. They are tough. This one went 80 yards with a 45/70 hole blown in it and no heart. Keep shooting them things. They’re bad news.

I found it today about 100 yards down the slope to the creek. Of course the smell is what made finding it easy. Pretty ripe
these things are careful and smart. I hope to get 1-2 a year. I think I should get a 30 cal to drop em in their tracks one day. It seems like that would be much more satisfying to me.
