"short" 'ish scope for benjamin woods walker?

lol . . . so I got a friend / co-worker into airgunning. He's purchased two so far - a .25 cal avenger and more recently a cool little benjamin woods walker. ( I might get one of them for myself . . . that thing is kinda cool! ) 

Anyway - I just get an e-mail FROM HIS WIFE (lol!!!) asking me what he might want for x-mas as he's apparently a pain in the ass to buy for. ( hilarious )

I told her I'd get back to her. The last time I was over at their house and we were playing with our air guns, he had expressed an interest in putting a small / "short" scope on it. It came with a red dot but he doesn't like that to much.

Cutting to the chase - inexpensive, but half decent scope for a woods walker pcp? He already has a set of 30mm rings we can use for it.

Recommendations? ( I don't know a ceiling / pain point on cost - lets say . . . $250.00 - less that $200 probably better - if doable )

Initially I put a 3-12x32 BugBuster on my Prod but found it hard to get proper eye relief. I swapped it out for a 3-9x40 Hawke Vantage. Which fit me much better. I use the same scope on my 1720T carbine also. The ATI cheek rest also helped a lot.

I have a P-rod (same rifle) & have had a few scopes on it.

I just got a Tac Vector Veyron 3-12x44 FFP & if my minimal time with it is any indication I think these & the Discovery equivalents are good choices. Better than the Bugbuster & Hawke 2-7, which I also have. 

However, if I were shopping specifically for the P-rod I think I'd want a SFP version so the reticle would be more visible at lower magnification. Or the HD Discovery for illumination. I don't think I'd care for the busy reticle on the Discovery HD, however.

Reticle & focal plane concerns aside, it is such a better scope for me than the Bugbuster. I hear all of the SFP & FFP versions from both companies are similar in glass quality, eye box, etc. 

I believe all of these come with a set of picatinny rings but it sounds like he already has a set of 30 mm rings. Just make sure to get dovetail adapters if he uses the included rings.

It seems if it's going to be used with the stock then a 3-12x magnification is more appropriate than a 2-7x, for instance — in the end the longest ranges and the quality of the eye sight would determine that....

I use a Discovery compact scope VT-3 3-12x44 FFP on my PP700 — even without a rifle stock this works really well for me.

Discovery makes them as FFP and SFP.

It seems(?), the same model is sold by Vector, just slightly different details.

However, if choosing FFP, the Discovery reticles have thick outside posts — that even on low magnification guide the eyes to where the crosshairs meet.
